Course description:

APT Firearms Academy's Tactical Shotgun I Course is designed for both the beginner and the advanced shotgun shooter.  Students will be instructed in the limitations and advantages of the practical shotgun. To successfully complete this course the student must qualify on a timed practical shooting course.

 

This is a Missouri P.O.S.T. approved course

• Selection of the proper ammunition for the situation

• Safe gun handling

• Loading and unloading drills

• Weapon retention

• Clearing malfunctions

• Speed loading

• Tactical reloading

• Shooting while standing, kneeling, prone and in full 360 degree arc

• Shooting while moving in the dynamic mode

• Shooting around barricades

• Shooting at aerial and multiple targets

• Shooting at distances with slugs

• Close quarter battle

• Immediate action drills

Equipment needed:

• Shotgun - Pump or semi-automatic (20” barrel maximum)

• Ammunition:  300 rounds birdshot; 50 rounds 00buck, 20 rounds slugs (25 rounds should be 5 packs of different brands of 00buck)

• Cleaning kit

• Comfortable shoes

• Hearing and eye protection

• Knee and elbow pads

• Foul weather gear

• Hat

• Note taking materials

• Sack lunch
